At Vision Nonprofit, we’re always looking for ways to help children with low vision access the tools they need to learn with confidence. In today’s video, Joey gives us a classroom tour of the Jupiter Portable Magnifier, a device from the American Printing House designed to help students with low vision read, write, and engage with their schoolwork.

At Vision Nonprofit, our mission is simple: to help children with low vision get the tools they need to thrive. Sometimes, that means celebrating moments we can share—like this video of Joey unboxing an iPad shipment—and other times, it means working quietly behind the scenes to support families in ways that remain private.

Joey has always had a passion for technology, but as a child with low vision, he also understands firsthand the challenges that come with it. When we started Vision Nonprofit, Joey was our very first applicant, and in many ways, he was the one who kicked off this entire mission.

As parents navigating his diagnosis of congenital nystagmus, we saw the impact that having the right technology—like an iPad with accessibility tools—had on his ability to learn, read, and explore the world. We knew other kids could benefit just as much, and that’s how Vision Nonprofit was born.

Joey continues to be a huge part of what we do, sharing his knowledge and excitement for technology with others. His journey inspired this organization, and now, because of him, we’re helping more children get the tools they need to succeed.
